dog under anaesthesia at pet hospital

We know a cancer diagnosis for your pet is stressful. To help your pet it’s advantageous to understand the type of cancer your pet has. You can expect many changes to come, such as with their diet, but we will be there to help you and your companion through it.

Symptoms that may indicate cancer include, but are not limited to, bleeding, difficulty making bowel movements, lethargy, trouble breathing and unexplained weight loss. Cancer will often show as a lump on or under the surface of your pet’s skin. These lumps can be benign (slow growing, don’t typically spread and can be surgically removed) or malignant (which can be life-threatening and spread to other parts of the body).

Feline cancer is less common than canine cancer. Certain types of feline cancer can be prevented with vaccinations, spaying and neutering.

Canine cancer is prevalent in senior dogs, so your elderly pets must have routine check-ups. Early detection is critical for an efficient treatment plan and increases the chances of survival.

Cancer therapy can be rewarding and provide a significant increase in both quality and length of life for our patients. We have a long history of providing surgical, chemotherapy and herbal options with beneficial results.
